Better Black Women
Monique Caradine, a Chicago-based radio show host, is fed up with the negative portrayals of black women on reality television in shows like The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Basketball Wives. In an attempt to establish a new standard she has come up with a nine point manifesto that she believes will help women lead healthier lives.

It’s great that someone is calling out how negatively women, and particularly their friendships, are represented on reality tv. But is the way black women are portrayed really any different from the way white women are portrayed on any of the “Housewives” shows – as bickering, violent and vapid?
And why do real black women need to change just because they’re being represented badly on tv?
